Response #3

Fofo Kpee proverty and vainity contributes unthinkable actions from the hopes of greed. In africa the proverty is not much of a suitable living condition in most areas. And where Fofo is from so happens to be a lack of resources. In these condition people usually become mercenaries. When he puts them on the boat he does not see them as human but money. His vanity gets in the way of his Profit. The cash that he is awarded seems to push him to keep going. The contributes that he had are the attributes of a seller.
His pangs of conscienceness does not do anything for me. Because overall he is contributing in human trafficking. There is no possible way for him to be creditable by me as a conscience person. I feel as of he was just preparing them for what's on the road ahead. ” he boarded up the windows”(67) he was trying to make it hot so they can get use to the heat. In a way I find it to be mocking. Overall he is a tainted man who needs to be stopped.

Redundant hw.... CHOICE LOL

REDUNDANT HW-EDITED BY KIYON

Now in our society killing another person is something that is automatically a wrong thing. Having to kill someone in order to save another person’s life can be a time where the rule of “killing is wrong” is bent. Killing someone is a wrong no matter what the circumstances are. It is never a question, if taking someone’s life is right or wrong, it’s just supposed to be an automatic objective in our minds that it is wrong. If it wasn’t a wrong thing to do people would never get in trouble for doing it, but that’s not the case because people do get in trouble by those who are superior to us.

Maman being killed was something that they had planned to do if it came down to it. They had this idea of what was going to happen if the mob had found them together because they knew it was the only way to save their children. In this case having to kill Maman is a moment where the rule of “killing is wrong” can be bent. It’s the choice to take one life, so two lives can grow.  Monique’s father’s choice in action was more pressured then a choice. He was forced to kill the women he loved to save their children, so his actions cannot be considered as a choice. There were other choices he could have made that might have ended with different results, because he knew if he didn’t kill his wife he would have to see someone else kill her, and then they would kill him and the children. Killing someone is never a good thing, because it is ending a life, but for this case that was a hard choice to kill someone you know and love to save two other lives that you know and love.

Quiz

There parents went to the ONGO (national organization I believe)

Poverty is a gift from god.

(I dont remember) fofo kpee wants to be rich so he can change his lifestyle.

Fofo lied about money and his way of living.

Kotchikpa’s name was changed due to her mother not being able to remeber her daughters name because she has to many children.

The mama and papa are the parents of them. And there relationship to there children are eccentric. they act very wealthy and the mother is always snapping at someone if they are out of order. and they seem to give there children random names.

The drink is soyo (i think) and also a coke. The food is chicken. (that was a guess) lol

Show me what nanfang means to you ah means to you ah means to you.

The nanfang seems to be a bike, but symbolizes wealth.

Some of the things that you can expect from the media is exaggerated truth about whats actually going on. The media is just interpreting of what they know and not what they are seeing. But on of the things that we should expect are lies, Death and warnings. We can hold them accountable for making this more of a calamity then it already is. The media is like the fuel and the fight is the fire and the media is only fueling the fire between the two giving information out to the antagonist which are the Hutu's. For an example from which in the movie  when the Hutu's were on there way from escaping the radio and there transmission were letting the Hutu's know that that tuts were escaping and they caught them in the act in back of a truck. The media condones only more violence and information to transcend to others letting them be aware to whats going on.
The public responsibility is to find out for themselves and not let the media influence them into believing everything. once people start believing what they hear or see in the media they become gullible to lies and that will only fume the fight even More. For an example the Genocide no one actually knew what was going on and the Americans were about to be involved knowing little to know exactly what was going on. But when you listen to the media your taking the media words and not the person that is experiencing whats going on.

Dont say your one of them!!! H/w 9/25

Throughout many story lines there are figurative meanings that can be symbolic through a object or event. In the book Say Your One Of Them written be Uwem Akpan the author epitomize mamas dress for a symbol of trickery. This dress is suppopse to fool her younger children Monique and her little brother into thinking that she is going to go on a fancy date. In the area that they are in is very dangerous and its at war. The Tutsi versus the hutu. The dress was displayed as a glittery dress to show meaning of fancy and expensive so in that way the children can think that the parents are going to be out for a while. Mama knew she was going to be out for awhile that why she insisted to tell her strategy into getting out of certain situations. "If anyone ask, say your one of them"(327 Akpan). Mama knew what was going on around her and she was aware that they will be looking for her next. This was a very enigma time for Monique because she didn't understand what was going on but she can infer that her mother was looking nice so everything should be okay. When mama comes back her dress is filthy and dirty from the hiding that she did from the hutu army. One can infer that mama had to go into the ground hide in bushes and dodge them as quickly as possible. "She acts dumb, bewitched, like a goat that the neighborhood children fed sorghum beer"(337 Akpan). This quote exemplify that mama must be physically drained from the exhausting of running. Having to run and hide and see the other Tutsi people die must have traumatized her. She must be weak and hungry with no energy left in her to be mobile.
The Arther seems to be foreshadowing the house as a symbol of faith and hope for the Tutsi people existence. The roof of the house is a example of the Tutsi population, because they were dying by the dozen each and everyday. One can also infer the weight of the collapse to be the burden of stress and fear and death that rise before them. "I cry with the ceiling people until my voice cracks and my tongue dries up"(351 Akpan). This quote is a great metaphor because the people in the ceilings are dead but the cause of there death is the rage of another humans hand which is sad and depressing. She cries along the dead because she fears as if she will be silently crying with them as well. She cries until she cannot cry anymore, in fact she cries until her tongue dries and and voice is gone like the dead people in the ceiling.
Overall the Tutsi are in need of help and of the moment no one are hearing there roars of help. The Tutsi people are becoming more antic with there strategy and having them respond to the Hutu as saying you are one of them. It is a depressing factor knowing little children women and Innocent men life are being taken away because what they are. And being killed by mercenaries puts the topping on the cake of this horrible situation.
